Since its official establishment, June 14, 1775 — more than a year before the Declaration of Independence — the U.S. Army has played a vital role in the growth and development of the American nation. Drawing on both long-standing militia traditions and recently introduced professional standards, it won the new republic's independence in an arduous eight-year struggle against Great Britain. At times, the Army provided the lone symbol of nationhood around which patriots rallied. We celebrate the Army's accomplishments today with patriotism and gratitude for all the sacrifices Soldiers and their families have made! To learn more about the Army’s 250th birthday, visit:

Department of New JerseyGold Star Chair Dedication CeremonyOn May 26, 2025, members of the Department of New Jersey proudly participated in a heartfelt chair dedication ceremony honoring Gold Star Mothers and their fallen heroes. The event held at Veterans Park, Ocean City, NJ was a tribute to the sacrifices made by service members and the enduring strength of their families. A highlight of the ceremony was the presence of Elizabeth Zaneri, recognized as the oldest living Gold Star member of the Dept of NJ, whose son SSgt Philip Zaneri, USAF gave his life in service in 1995. Dept of NJ Officers, Lisa Brunner, Patricia Murgolo and Amy Moore, attended along with the Commander of VFW Post 6650, Mike Morrissey and Patrick Hughes, Rolling Thunder National. Department of ArizonaMemorial DayFor American Gold Star Mothers, Memorial Day holds a profoundly emotional and sacred place in our hearts. It is a day set aside not only to honor our fallen children but to speak their names aloud, share their stories, and ensure their legacies endure.
Across Arizona, our Department members were deeply engaged—attending, speaking, and participating in ceremonies—each with the unwavering commitment that we must never forget. Volunteer ChapterNew Veterans Memorial and MoreThe Volunteer Chapter had a busy day on May 17th. After our meeting, we visited the new French Broad River Veterans Memorial Park. We were blessed to spend some time with Bill Robinson who was the longest enlisted POW during the Vietnam War. Next, we dropped by the East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery (which is also on the French Broad River), and we visited the Gold Star Memorial at the cemetery. Tampa Bay Chapter
