On June 12, 2025, we invite you to stand with us at the Military Women’s Memorial for an evening of honor, inspiration, and celebration as we mark the 77th anniversary of the groundbreaking 1948 Women’s Armed Services Integration Act —the legislation that gave women a permanent place in the U.S. military.

This isn’t just a date on the calendar. It’s a powerful reminder of what service, courage, and determination look like—and it’s a call to lift up the stories of the 3 million women who have served and continue to serve our Nation. And, there’s no better place to do it than the Military Women’s Memorial, America’s only major national memorial dedicated to telling HER story.

A highlight of this year’s event is the award of the 2025 Senator Margaret Chase Smith Leadership Award to three bona fide military women trailblazers – the first three military women accepted as astronaut candidates –Eileen Collins, Nancy Currie and Susan Helms. Joining us to accept the award on behalf of all three is retired Army Colonel Dr. Nancy Currie-Gregg, who will talk about her extraordinary service and spend time engaging with guests. We’ll learn about the early years of women in the space program from Dr. Margaret Weitekamp, the leader of the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum Space History Department. And, we’ll top off the event with a song commissioned by NASA honoring Eileen Collins as the first woman to command a space shuttle. You won’t want to miss this out of this world event!

Join us! Bring your military sisters and supporters. And, bring your daughters, nieces, neighbors, and friends. Let them hear the stories of real-life trailblazers who led with purpose, shattered barriers in uniform, and paved the way in every field—from codebreaking to ship driving, from aviation to STEM, from medicine to the battlefield.

They served when they weren’t allowed to. They dared when others told them not to. They said yes when the world said no.

These women stood on the shoulders of those who came before them. Now, the young women of today will stand on theirs—taller, prouder, stronger, and more inspired—because they had the chance to see what was possible.

This is more than a celebration—it’s a powerful reminder that HER story has shaped our history, inspires our present, and empowers our future.
