Pam Stemple - PNP and National VAVS Representative

After just wrapping up my year as National President, I have thought a lot about all the things I wanted to accomplish. The Board last year deserved a medal for hearing all my ideas and wishing we had time to do all the things I wanted to see updated and all the new things I wanted to do. But, in one short year I could only do what was done! Being on the Board one more year to get VAVS up and running again is an honor. I love helping Veterans. It’s a passion of mine.

In January 2002, I became a Blue Star Mother, and then on March 29, 2015, I became a Gold Star
Mother. Being a Navy Veteran myself, I knew what that meant for the rest of my life. We have all had
to go through this terrible time. There is no getting out of it. Even begging and pleading will not change
our devesting circumstance.

I am so thankful for my AGSM Chapter in Colorado Springs. How lucky I was to meet these women just a month after Tomas died.

After being on the National Executive Board since 2018, I feel like the “old lady” now. I want to share all the information that I have in my head on the going’s on of the American Golds Star Mothers, Inc with not only the new members of the NEB, but the Membership at Large. Our history means so very much to me. We are almost 100 years old; 1928 to 2028. I would love to sit down with the mothers of the past and just listen to their stories. I have a million questions to ask them. But the first question that comes to mind is “How did you manage from the day you lost your Hero to the day you left this earth”? Counting the yearly ticks is sometimes more than I can bear. But I keep on day by day trying to do the good works that my Hero, SFC Tomas Avey, started.
