Teresa Bullock, National Service Officer
Being appointed the National Service Officer this year is such an honor. I have some great mentors teaching me all I need to know for membership, charters, logo requests, and event planning. I am also the Grants committee chair and what a start we have had there! We opened a special disaster grant for our members who were affected by the devastation of Hurricane Beryl in Texas. Reading the requests and seeing the devastation some have endured is heartbreaking. I am proud of how our moms are so resilient and that we decided to help them. That is why I am here, to help and support other mothers, our veterans, active duty and their family members.
When my son U.S. Army Christopher Webb died in Iraq I was at a loss as to where to go and what to do. My youngest son SPC Coy Bullock was in Iraq as well at that time, he was sent home for the service and returned to Iraq. Fortunately, Chris’ Battalion commander and his wife knew how to put me in contact with others like me. They arranged for my local Gold Star and Blue Star Chapters to reach out to me. I attended my first meeting of both organizations 3 weeks after burying Chris and 1 week after Coy’s return to Iraq. I have met some of the greatest people in the 17 years I have been a part of American Gold Star Mothers and the Blue Star Mothers of America. They are some of the most caring women and hard-working volunteers I know.

I currently work full time with the Department of the Army at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, California. As a veteran myself, I enjoy working with our soldiers and like to think I am carrying on the service for my son in my own way. As members of American Gold Star Mothers, Inc., our service is how we honor their sacrifice and make sure they are not forgotten. We continue and honor what our founders started almost 100 years ago.

Congratulations on your new post. Teresa has been an integral part of mothers transition from blue star to gold. She reached many of us for the first time. Forever grateful.

My dear friend forever.
