Operation Gratitude began as a grassroots movement started in founder Carolyn Blashek’s living room, but now encompasses Americans all over the country donating items and writing letters to express their gratitude for all who serve. Since 2003, this nationwide network of volunteers has sent our troops and first responders over 4 million Care Packages filled with great products and items that were handmade with love, including letters from grateful Americans. These warm reminders of home provide a huge impact on the wellbeing and resilience of those who serve and the people who support them.
Under the MOU, AGSM agreed to encourage our local Chapters and Departments to work with OG to volunteer in locations across the country and bring awareness of our missions by assembling care packages, making items for care packages and by accepting and distributing care packages.
In recent conversations with OG, as the world has changed a lot since 2019, there are a number of additional ways in which our Chapters and Departments can assist OG’s efforts. Some of these programs are easily done from anywhere at any time.

Here are a few of our options:
Letter Writing: The most needed item is always handwritten letters of appreciation, and this is also the most cherished item in care packages.
|
Paracord Lanyards: Paracord Lanyards are included in all care packages, and they are well utilized in the field by Troops and First Responders.
|
Care Kits: Small hygiene kits are included in all care packages.
